Behuizing repareren

A laptop that slid off the table, a lid that no longer closes, or a hinge that creaks and gets stiffer every time. Housing damage looks cosmetic, but it rarely is: sooner or later it pulls something else apart.

Why you should not wait

A seizing hinge pulls at the lid every time you open it. First the corner comes loose, then the plastic around the hinge point cracks, and in the end the screen itself tears. That last one costs a multiple of the hinge.

The same goes for a detached bottom cover: dust reaches the fan, the device runs hotter, and heat is the shortest route to a failed mainboard.

How you notice it

The lid no longer stays where you put it, or falls back. You hear a creaking sound when opening. There is a gap between screen and lid that was not there before. Or a corner of the housing lifts when you pick the device up.

What we do

  • Replacing hinges or repairing the hinge mount in the housing
  • Replacing a cracked lid or bottom cover
  • Refastening loose screw posts
  • Checking the display cable that runs along the hinge
  • After a drop, also checking screen, battery and mainboard

After a drop the housing is rarely the only thing

A device that has been dropped has often taken more than you can see. That is why we check the screen, the storage and the mainboard as standard before we quote a price. Then you know where you stand in one go, instead of again in two weeks.

What it costs and how long it takes

Within 3 working days you know what is broken and what it costs. If a lid or hinge set has to be ordered, we say so in advance. If it stays under 100 euro we carry it out right away.
