Product condition
Every product in our shop carries a condition label. Below you will find exactly what each label means, so you know what you are getting before you order.
On laptops, desktops, workstations and monitors, IBO Computers provides a 2-year warranty, whatever the condition. For individual components and accessories the term varies; it is stated with the product.
What exactly is included — power adapter, cables, manual — differs per product and per condition. You will find this with each product under Packaging content.
New — sealed
Unused: the device or component is entirely new and has had no previous owner.
No wear: there are no signs of use, wear or earlier repairs.
Original packaging: the product comes in the manufacturer's original, unopened packaging.
Accessories and manuals: complete as supplied by the manufacturer. The exact contents are listed with the product.
Warranty: the full manufacturer's warranty, normally 2 years. We handle it for you — there is no need to contact the manufacturer yourself.
New — open box
Unused: the device is new and has had no previous owner.
Box opened: only the packaging has been opened, for instance because an order was cancelled or because we inspected the product. The device itself has never been in use.
No wear: there are no signs of use, wear or earlier repairs.
Accessories and manuals: complete with the original accessories and manuals, unless stated otherwise with the product.
Warranty: the full manufacturer's warranty, normally 2 years. We handle it for you.
An open-box product is new, but usually costs less than the same product in a sealed box.
New — without original box
Unused: the device is entirely new and has had no previous owner.
No wear: there are no signs of use, wear or earlier repairs.
No original box: the product is supplied without the manufacturer's original packaging. This happens with larger batches that the manufacturer ships without individual boxes; the trade calls this bulk or OEM. We ship the product in plain protective packaging.
Accessories: which accessories are included varies per batch. Please check Packaging content with the product.
Warranty: the full manufacturer's warranty, normally 2 years. We handle it for you.
Only the box is missing — the product itself is no different from a sealed one. That makes this usually the most affordable way to buy new.
Demo
Display model: the device has been used as a demonstration or display model, for example in a shop or at a trade fair. It has never been sold to a customer as a new product.
Little used: a demo model has normally been switched on for a short period only and has seen light use.
Appearance: minor signs of use are possible. Otherwise the device looks as new.
Tested: the device is fully tested in our own workshop before it leaves us.
What you receive: the accessories and packaging included are stated with the product.
Warranty: 2-year warranty from IBO Computers.
Renewed
Renewed is our term for what the market calls remanufactured: the device is completely dismantled and rebuilt. This goes further than refurbished.
Complete dismantling: the product is taken apart down to the frame and the basic components.
Inspection and assessment: every part is carefully inspected for wear, damage or defects.
Repair or replacement: worn or damaged parts are repaired or replaced with new or reconditioned parts.
Reassembly: the product is rebuilt using the reconditioned or new parts.
Testing and quality control: after reassembly the product is thoroughly tested, so that it meets both its specifications and our quality standards.
Cosmetic finishing: where needed the product is cosmetically restored, so that it looks as new.
Packaging and warranty: the product is supplied in new packaging, with a 2-year warranty from IBO Computers — the same term as on a new device.
Refurbished
Thorough inspection: every part of the product is carefully inspected for faults, damage or defects.
Repair and replacement: worn or damaged parts are repaired or replaced with new or reconditioned parts.
Cleaning and cosmetic restoration: the product is thoroughly cleaned and cosmetic flaws are repaired where possible.
Functional test: after the work is done the product is extensively tested, so that it works properly and meets our quality standards.
Warranty: 2-year warranty from IBO Computers on laptops, desktops, workstations and monitors, whichever grade below applies.
The grade says something about appearance only. It makes no difference at all to how the product works, to its specifications or to the warranty.
Refurbished A+ (as good as new)
The product shows no or minimal signs of wear, scratches or cosmetic flaws and looks as new.
Refurbished A
The product may show a few small cosmetic flaws, such as light scratches. These do not affect how the product works.
Refurbished B
The product may show visible signs of wear, such as scratches, dents or discolouration. These do not affect how the product works.
Refurbished C
The product may show considerable signs of wear, scratches, dents or other cosmetic flaws that affect its appearance. These do not affect how the product works. This is usually the most affordable choice.
Testing and warranty
Whatever the condition: every device is fully tested before dispatch in our own workshop at Radonweg 10 in Amersfoort. Should something go wrong after all, we carry out the repair ourselves, down to component level. So there is no waiting for an external service centre.
